Get To Know Andrew Harrison

Andrew is a 17 plus year resident of Indianapolis. Andrew is devoted to Sharon Alderman, whom he has been with for 16 years. Andrew also has a son, Max, who is 19 years old. Andrew enjoys history, especially Indiana History, and World War 2 history, going to the movies, visiting new places in Indiana, and reading books.

He has been very active in his community on the Southside of Indianapolis (Perry Township) by giving back and volunteering during the many years he has lived there. He has held a number of volunteer offices in recent years, including the City of Southport Public Safety Board- Board Member & Emergency Management Chair & Co-Public Safety Director, and the City of Southport, Parks & Recreation Board – Board Member & Secretary.

Andrew also formed the 1st CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) organization on the Southside of Indianapolis where he aligned 30 citizens from Southport, Homecroft, and Greenwood to attend 40 hours of Homeland Security Training at no cost. While volunteering there, he was the CERT Director & FEMA Coordinator. Andrew also proudly served his community by serving on the Marion County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee (FEMA/Homeland Security Grant Committee).

Andrew was the recipient of the 2014 Indianapolis Business Journal (IBJ) Top Forty Under 40 Award. (Each year the IBJ publishes 40 success stories that are transforming the way we live and work in Central Indiana; they are leaders under the age of 40 in their community and their respective fields).

Andrew is also the Vice President of his neighborhood’s homeowner’s association (Southport Trace HOA). Andrew is a graduate of the University of Maryland University College where he studied Criminal Justice. 

Andrew Harrison is currently the Head of Physical Security for the Americas & Asia Pacific Regions for Cognizant Technology Solutions. He is responsible for all Physical Security Operations, to include Travel Security, Global Business Resiliency, and Crisis Management as part of the Cognizant Global Security Team. Andrew proudly leads and manages a very diverse team of highly trained professionals across the globe, has major fiduciary responsibilities, as well as being a global risk mitigator. In the private sector Andrew previously served on the TAPA (Transported Asset Protection Association) Board of Directors, which is the global benchmarking security standard(s) in the fight against cargo crime. While serving on the TAPA Board of Directors, Andrew was assigned to the Standards Committee. Additionally, Andrew co-authored the 2014 global supply chain security standards.
